About Prohibit

Prohibit is a sparkling wine produced by the winery Mas Candí in Avinyonet del Penedés (Alt Penedès).

Mas Candí was built in 2006 to make their own wines from the vineyards that their grandfathers planted.

With utmost respect for the surroundings and seeking complicity with the landscape, they work with native varieties in an organic way, recovering old Catalan grapes that are almost extinct.
Mas Candí has over 55 hectares of their own vineyard, located right next to the Natural Park Massís del Garraf. Therefore, they have different terroirs, altitudes and microclimates, to vinify the different grapes that have grown in the most ideal conditions.

Prohibit is a rosé sparkling wine made from Sumoll from their own vineyards planted on clayey-calcareous soils.

After the manual harvest and before the alcoholic fermentation with native yeasts, the grapes macerate with their skins for 6 hours to extract the desired colour. Before the second fermentation, it rests for 6 months with its lees. The malolactic fermentation is spontaneous. After the second fermentation in the bottle, and a minimum ageing of 15 months, they perform the disgorgement without adding liqueur d'expédition.

Prohibit is a fresh, light and aromatic sparkling wine. Attractive on the nose and very elegant in the mouth. One of those few sparkling wines made with this variety.
