About Mas Coutelou 7 Rue de la Pompe

Throughout the world there are streets famous for their stories or for who lived there. Some are well-known, such as Abbey Road (named by the British Government as a 'place of historical and cultural importance'), where the Beatles immortalized their album cover; others, less well-known, are also home to characters and interesting facts, such as La Rue de la Pompe

This long and well-known street in the 16th arrondissement of Paris, a 20-minute walk from the Arc de Triomphe, takes its name from the pump that used to supply water to the Château de Muette. However, it was also inhabited by several well-known personalities such as Brigitte Bardot (who spent part of her childhood in number 1), the writer and journalist Jules Janin (his texts were written in number 11), George du Maurier or Carlos de Borbón and his wife, Margarita de Borbón-Parma (in numbers 43 and 45). Now, number 7 joins this list of famous addresses, with Mas Coutelou 7 Rue de la Pompe

Mas Coutelou 7 Rue de la Pompe is a juicy, fresh red wine made by Jeff Coutelau, the renowned Langedoc winegrower famous for his organic wines and who has become an inspiration. His fame comes from the fact that in 1987 he was one of the first to obtain certification for its vineyards, changing everything which had been established up to that time. Today, its entire production comes from the 13 hectares of vineyards planted in the village of
Pumisson (southeastern France), on soils ranging from clay-limestone to marl. Here, plants are respected to the maximum, taking special care with the handling of the vines and bunches (chemical-free for more than 28 years).

For Coutelou, terroir is the most important thing, so keeping it pure (without embellishments) is the main objective followed in his wineries. Here, varieties (including Syrah, Grenache, Carignan, Cinsault, Mourvèdre, Sauvignon blanc, White carignan and Macabeo) are shown without artifice. In the case of Mas Coutelou 7 Rue de la Pompe, the wine ferments spontaneously in concrete tanks and is aged very briefly in concrete tanks, which are combined with fiberglass tanks. Finally, Mas Coutelou 7 Rue de la Pompe is bottled without filtering or clarifying.

Warning! This wine is very light and appetizing, and very easy to drink, so it can be perfectly served every day.
2020

Mas Coutelou 7 Rue de la Pompe 2020 is a dark, juicy, ruby-colored red wine. The nose is brimming with aromas of brambles, plums, herbs and exotic spices. The palate is enveloping, with delicious acidity. Soft tannins. Very easy to drink.
