About Masseria Setteporte N'ettaro Etna Bianco

Located in Sicily (Italy), Mount Etna is not only the tallest volcano in Europe but also one of the most active in the world. According to Roman mythology, Vulcan, the god of fire, forged weapons, tools, and armour in its depths, and each time he discovered an infidelity of his wife, Venus, he struck the metal with such fury that it caused an eruption. If the legend were true, it seems the goddess of love would have been unfaithful more times than we can count, because over hundreds of thousands of years, the volcano has generated countless layers of lava and ash, creating a unique terroir. A viticultural landscape that gives rise to wines that are true gems, recognised and appreciated internationally. Wineries such as Masseria Setteporte, located on the southwestern side of Mount Etna, have been able to appreciate the full potential of the place and today, under the ownership of Piero Portale, have resumed the project initiated by his father to showcase the excellences of the DOC Etna.

One of their standout wines is Masseria Setteporte N'ettaro Etna Bianco, a blend made from the carricante and catarratto varieties sourced from a one-hectare vineyard, as its name suggests (N'ettaro means "One hectare" in Italian). The vines are located on south-facing terraces at an altitude of between 650 and 800 metres on lava sand soils that are cultivated according to organic guidelines. After a manual harvest, the selected grapes are destemmed and gently pressed to begin fermentation at a controlled temperature of 16°C in stainless steel tanks with indigenous yeasts. The wine then remains on its lees for several months and is finally refined in the bottle for at least 3 months.

Elegant, aromatic, and exceptionally drinkable, Masseria Setteporte N'ettaro Etna Bianco represents a perfect symbiosis between man and nature. A wine forged in the volcanic soils of Etna that reveals the vibrant and fresh character of a wine region touched by the gods.

Masseria Setteporte N'ettaro Etna Bianco 2022 is a light and aromatic white wine, with a pale yellow hue. On the nose, it boasts a fragrant floral bouquet, complemented by notes of lemon, acacia, apple, and a hint of oregano. On the palate, it is full-bodied and creamy, offering a fresh and persistent flavour that invites another sip. Its finish is long and well-defined, leaving a pleasant impression.
