Matallana 2021 is an elegant fortified red wine that presents a concentrated and consistent profile. On the nose, it reveals subtle spicy aromas intermingled with notes of ripe red fruits, such as cherry and raspberry. Upon tasting, its silky and well-structured texture stands out, offering a perfect balance between acidity and body. Each sip reflects its sophisticated character, with a lingering finish that invites repeated enjoyment.

About Matallana

Matallana is a red wine crafted from the tinto fino variety by Telmo Rodríguez in the DO. Ribera del Duero (Castilla y León).
 
Telmo Rodríguez, a multifaceted winemaker producing wines across various Spanish vineyards, aims to capture the essence of each locale. In this instance, he has revived the winemaking tradition in the finest areas of the Ribera del Duero by cultivating splendid smallholdings scattered across 5 villages and 11 districts.  
 
Thus, Matallana originates from an intriguing mosaic of diverse soils: clay, red feldspar, petrocalcic, and terraces of marl, conglomerates, and sandstones. These vineyards are ecologically restored with organic treatments, eschewing chemical products, and the harvest is conducted manually in boxes.
 
In the winery, the grapes of Matallana are macerated and ferment with indigenous yeasts in oak vats and stainless steel tanks. Subsequently, the wine ages in French oak barrels for 15 months. 
 
Matallana is the result of eleven completely distinct plots. Although the vineyards are obscured on the bottle label due to protectionist regulations, they reveal the true character of Ribera del Duero.

2013 Matallana 2013 is a mature, expressive and elegant red wine. This vintage shows all the character of the Tinto Fino variety, deep red fruit on the nose with spicy and mineral notes. With a firm mid-palate and a long and ample finish.
