About Pegaso Granito

Pegaso Granito is a red wine made by Telmo Rodríguez in the town of Cebreros, (VT Castilla-León) using the Garnacha Tinta variety.

Telmo Rodríguez, a great advocate for the Garnacha variety in Spain, set up this project with Pablo Eguzkiza in 1994. Together they travel the best wine regions to present wines from places as diverse as Rioja, Ribera del Duero, Rueda, Valdeorras, Alicante, Toro, Malaga, Cigales, and Ávila. Thanks to their rigorous work in the vineyard and in the winery and their great professional experience, these wines are highly prized among the best oenological circles both at home and abroad.

Pegaso Granito comes from very old vineyards planted in bush form in shallow magmatic soils, at an altitude of between 800 and 900 metres above sea level. They use traditional organic farming methods and, when the grapes reach optimum ripeness, the harvest is carried out manually in small boxes.

Once the Pegaso Granito grape reaches the winery, it is destemmed and gently pressed. The must ferments with native yeasts and no additives in 4,000 kg stainless steel tanks. It then ages in 600-litre French oak barrels of different origins for 24 months.

Pegaso Granito is a red wine that offers all the minerality that is so characteristic of a slate terroir. A wine with undeniable body and soul.

2021

Pegaso Granito 2021 reveals a pale cherry hue. On the nose, it is distinguished by its aromas of ripe wild berries, such as raspberries and blackberries, complemented by a spicy hint and notes of Mediterranean aromatic herbs that evoke an autumnal forest. On the palate, it displays a good balance and a smooth texture thanks to its fine tannins. It is a mature and fluid wine, inviting one to relish its freshness and flavour with each sip.                      
2014 Pegaso Granito 2014 is a mature red wine with a complex nose of ripe black and red fruit aromas, herbaceous touches and a mineral background. The barrel reveals both the fruit and the barrel. It is round, very silky and very well structured.
