About Mendall Terme de Laureano

Beyond mere numbers, these dwellings are often christened with names. These appellations frequently derive from the professions, surnames, or nicknames of their inhabitants and become genuine geographic and human landmarks for navigation within the landscape. In the case of Laureano Serres Montagut, a trailblazer in the field of natural wines from Terra Alta (Catalonia), he pays tribute to this custom by bestowing the name of his mother's house, Mandell, upon his wines.

Each bottle of Mandell encapsulates not only the exquisite taste of Terra Alta but also a profound connection to the region's history and culture. Laureano is renowned for his fervent advocacy for the land and for the artisanal process he employs in the crafting of his wines. Mendall Terme de Laureano is a single-varietal of carignan sourced from 50-year-old vines planted in clay-limestone soil at an elevation of 470 meters. The vineyard is cultivated organically with biodynamic principles, and the harvest is carried out by hand at the peak of ripeness. In the cellar, the selected grapes undergo a 7-day maceration and ferment with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel tanks. Subsequently, the wine matures for 12 months in the same vessels and is finally bottled unclarified, unfiltered, and without the addition of sulfites.

In an act that radiates love and profound respect for his heritage, Mendall Terme de Laureano is a veritable burst of red fruits. This wine, akin to the deeply rooted tradition of naming houses, stands as a celebration of family, land, and a passion for wine.
