About MicroBio Kilometro 0 "El Origen”

MicroBio Kilometro 0 "El Origen” is a white wine without denomination of origin produced by the winery MicroBio Wines in Nieva (Segovia).

MicroBio Wines is the persona project of Ismael Gozalo, who alongside Javier Zaccagnini created Ossian. Since 1998, Ismael makes his wines also outside the family winery, Viñedos de Nieva. He started making young wines, fresh and quite varietal, but he soon began to work with a bio or natural line of wines to enhance the personality of the variety and the soil, above all.

To produce these wines, Ismael has family pre-phylloxera and ungrafted vines. They are cultivated organically, but he does not want to be given this label. A large percentage of all the grapes is still sold to producers from the area, like Ossian itself.

MicroBio Kilometro 0 "El Origen” is a natural wine made from Verdejo from different pre-phylloxera vineyards in the area planted ungrafted on soils with siliceous sands and boulders.

After they are manually harvested, the whole grapes ferment in clay jars (tinajas) with native yeasts. After fermenting for two months, the pulp is pressed and the wine is transferred to oak barrels to age for 10-12 months. After this, the wine is transferred to jars where it will remain 6 more months. It is bottled without added sulphites.

2015 MicroBio Kilometro 0 "El Origen" 2015 is a creamy and structured white wine. A good vintage for this orange wine, due to its excellent balance between ripeness and freshness. On the nose, the aromas of very ripe white fruit stand out, with notes of citrus and jasmine. On the palate it is tannic, powerful and very lingering.
