About Mixtura Blanco

The Revelation Awards celebrate those who make a significant impact in the market, acknowledging the new talents that herald the beginning of a journey full of potential. Thus, when Gutiér Seijo, former oenologist of Dominio de Bibei, received the Best Revelation Wine Award from the Guía Peñín 2022 for his wine Mixtura Blanco 2019, he could confirm that his project, Mixtura Independent Wines, was on the right path.

Mixtura Independent Wines is founded on a clear philosophy: to create wines that are free from pre-established norms, guided instead by intuition and a profound respect for the terroir. Unifying the roles of viticulturist and creator, Gutiér Seijo crafts wines under his premise “Learning by doing”, integrating direct experience and a connection with the land into every bottle.

Mixtura Blanco originates from selected vineyards in the regions of Ribeiro (Galicia) and Melgaço (Portugal). These vineyards thrive on sabrego soils in Ribeiro and sandy soils with decomposed granite in Melgaço, ideal for cultivating the native varieties albariño and treixadura. Working under ecological practices, the wine is produced with a manual harvest in boxes, followed by a bunch-by-bunch selection. Fermentation is carried out with indigenous yeasts in Austrian oak foudres, imparting a unique complexity. Finally, the aging process occurs in two stages: 12 months in Austrian oak foudres on its lees, followed by another 12 months in concrete tanks, refining the flavours and achieving a pure and sophisticated expression.

With an innovative approach that stands out for its authenticity and respect for the terroir, Mixtura Blanco is the beginning of a project that promises to continue surprising. This has already been noted in the Guía Peñín with its recognition as the Best Revelation Wine in 2022.
