About Mixtura Mix Tinto

The Bauhaus was one of the most influential art, design, and architecture schools of the 20th century. However, its influence extends beyond the art world. Its philosophy has transcended into other realms, including oenology, where the relationship between craftsmanship and creativity is paramount.

For Guti Seijo, former oenologist at Dominio de Bibei, "there is no essential difference between the artist and the craftsman." In his view, wine reaches its highest expression when crafted with an artisanal approach. From this premise arises Mixtura, a project focused on the restoration of historical vineyards along the Miño River, from Bierzo to Melgaço, with the aim of preserving their landscape, architectural, and cultural heritage.

From this philosophy emerges Mixtura Mix Tinto, a wine that defies any established norms and is constructed as a genuine mosaic of Galician varieties. It originates from a selection of vineyards in Bierzo and Ribeiro, where indigenous grapes express themselves with complete freedom. Its blend is a reflection of the territory: mencía, caíño, brancellao, and sousón, each contributing its unique character. Cultivated in sabrego soils (sandy with decomposed granite) and alluvial terrains with pebbles, the wine achieves a natural complexity that makes it unmistakable.

The vinification follows the same philosophy of independence. The harvest is done by hand, with meticulous bunch-by-bunch selection. Fermentation occurs in 1000-litre tanks, using indigenous yeasts, and the blending of all vineyards is carried out before malolactic fermentation in very old French oak barrels. Finally, its maturation extends for eleven months in these same barrels, allowing the wine to develop its complexity without losing freshness.

Mixtura Mix Tinto is a liberated wine, without predefined rules, where the landscape, tradition, and craftsmanship create their own language. A true Galician mosaic that speaks of the territory with a new, vibrant, and independent voice.
