About Mondo Verdejo

Mondo Verdejo is an exquisite natural white wine crafted from the Verdejo grape by the esteemed winery Isaac Cantalapiedra within the V.T. Castilla-León territory.

The Cantalapiedra lineage has tirelessly cultivated vineyards in the Rueda region (Valladolid) through successive generations. It was not until 2014 that the venture evolved into a winery, spearheaded by Isaac Cantalapiedra and his progeny, Manuel, with the intent to market terroir-driven, wholly organic wines predominantly made from the quintessential Verdejo grape. With Mondo, we witness Manuel's personal venture beyond the official brand, where he delves into the art of crafting natural wines.

Mondo Verdejo hails from a plot of venerable vines perched at an elevation of approximately 750 meters, rooted in sandy and clay soils interspersed with the region's signature pebbles. Here, organic farming is complemented by biodynamic practices, and the harvest is conducted by hand.

Upon arrival at the winery, half of the Mondo Verdejo batch ferments on its skins for five to six days in open vats without temperature regulation. The remainder ferments without the skins. Following pressing, Mondo Verdejo is transferred to 600-liter used barrels where it undergoes malolactic fermentation and matures for nearly a year. It is then bottled unclarified, unfiltered, and without the addition of sulfur dioxide.

Mondo Verdejo represents the innovative spirit of the latest Cantalapiedra generation. It is a project personally undertaken by Manuel, who even designed the label himself, culminating in a naturally Verdejo white wine of exceptional character.

2018 Mondo 2018 is a fruity white wine with aromas of white flowers, citrus notes and herbaceous touches. On the palate it is fresh with a good acidity that lasts until the end.
