About Lustau Moscatel Superior Emilín

Lustau Moscatel Superior Emilín is a sweet wine crafted by Bodegas Lustau in Jerez de la Frontera, within the esteemed D.O. Jerez-Xerés -Sherry region.

Bodegas Lustau, established by José Ruiz-Berdejo i Veyan in 1896, has undergone a transformation from its initial role as a almacenista to its current status, boasting three wineries across the key cities of the Marco de Jerez: Jerez de la Frontera, Puerto de Santa María, and Sanlúcar de Barrameda.

Bodegas Lustau owns two vineyards within the Marco de Jerez: Viña Montegilillo, which features chalky albariza soils ideal for cultivating the Palomino grape, yielding musts for the production of manzanilla, fino, amontillado, and oloroso wines. Additionally, there is Viña Las Cruces, situated near the coast on sandy soils where the Moscatel and Pedro Ximénez grapes are grown, dedicated to the creation of sweet wines.

Lustau Moscatel Superior Emilín is a sweet wine produced from the Moscatel grape, sourced exclusively from the Las Cruces vineyard, which boasts sandy soils and is located near the coastline in Chipiona.

To maximize the grape's sugar content, the harvest is exceptionally late, thereby avoiding excessively prolonged sun exposure that could lead to the rotting of the grapes. Fermentation is halted early to preserve the grapes' natural sugars. The wine is aged for an average of 8 years using the traditional Solera and Criaderas system in American oak casks.
