In youth, one is often required to choose a future before truly understanding oneself. Decisions are made more on intuition than certainty, and as time progresses, it becomes evident that one's true passions may not align with the path initially chosen. Yet, this has never deterred the bold, those who dare to radically alter their lives, regardless of the cost.
One such individual is Nicolas Mariotti Bindi. Born in Corsica, he left his native island to study Law in Paris. However, something within him yearned for a different destiny. Thus, against all odds, he returned home to pursue a much more earthly and passionate vocation: wine. In 2007, he produced his first vintage, and since then, his name has become a hallmark within the Patrimonio appellation, at the northernmost tip of the island.
Together with his wife, Nicolas now organically cultivates 15 hectares of vineyard where various indigenous Corsican varieties flourish. His philosophy revolves around "parcellaire" work, a practice that involves vinifying each plot separately to highlight the unique character of the soil and microclimate. In Marsaglia, for instance, he tends to a hectare of niellucciu and another of vermentino, both planted in 2009 on clay and limestone slopes.
Mursaglia Vieillissement Prolongé Blanc is born precisely from this philosophy. At an altitude of 250 metres, in an environment where the clay and limestone slopes impart character, the vermentino grapes are cultivated with minimal intervention and hand-harvested, bunch by bunch. Once in the winery, the whole clusters are pressed and the wine undergoes a year of ageing on lees, followed by an additional 4 months in stainless steel tanks. This process allows the tension of the limestone terroir to be recaptured, adding a layer of reductive and stony notes that bestow depth and vibrancy.
Mursaglia Vieillissement Prolongé Blanc is an unfiltered and unfined wine, vibrant and authentic, reflecting the essence of its land without artifice. A wine that, like its creator, does not fear reinventing itself to sincerely express what it truly is.
