About A' Vía Treixadura

A' Vía Treixadura is a white wine made in jars by O Morto Wines with the Treixadura native variety in the D.O. Ribeira (Galicia).
 
O Morto Wines is the name of the project set up by Argentine winegrower Matías Michelini when he settled in the Galician town of Ribadavia. A total of 4 hectares of old vineyards planted with native varieties that are cultivated with fully environmentally friendly agriculture and used to make natural, organic, biodynamic and vegan wines. These wines have an Atlantic character that reflect the unique landscape they come from in a very particular way. 
 
A' Vía Treixadura comes from 30-year-old vines that are planted in granite soil and decomposed slate around the Avia Valley. They are cultivated using organic agriculture and biodynamic treatments instead of chemical products. The harvest is carried out manually when the grapes reach optimum ripeness, following the lunar calendar. 
 
In the winery, the Tiro al Blanco Treixadura grapes go through direct pressing and the resulting must spontaneously ferments with native yeasts in amphorae. The wine ages there for 9 months on its lees. Finally, it’s bottled without being filtered, clarified or adding sulphites. 
 
Made from vineyards crossed by an old abandoned road, Tiro al Blanco Treixadura is a complex and deep white wine with great mineral character. 
2018 O Morto A Vía Treixadura is a white wine with aromas of white fruit and citrus, floral notes and chalky touches. On the palate it is deep, intense and fresh. This is a voluminous and complex wine with high acidity and a mineral background.
