About Ormanni Chianti Classico

Between Poggibonsi and Castellina in Chianti lies a hidden gem with centuries of stories to tell: the finca Ormanni. This is no ordinary estate. Initially owned by the Ormanni family — so influential that even Dante mentioned them in the Divine Comedy — it later passed through the hands of the Scarlatti and the Medici, until the Brini family claimed it as their own in 1818. Since then, each generation has penned a different chapter, contributing their vision and effort.

In the 1960s, Ormanni took a bold leap, leaving behind the old sharecropping system and transforming it into a modern winery, focused on vineyards and olive groves. Today, under the stewardship of Paolo Brini, the estate blends tradition with modernity, adhering to a clear philosophy of respecting nature. Of its 240 hectares, 68 are dedicated to vineyards (38 in Chianti Classico and 26 in Chianti), cultivated organically and with ecological certification.

Ormanni Chianti Classico is born from vineyards located in Barberino Val d’Elsa, at the very heart of the region. It is crafted from 100% sangiovese grapes, grown organically. The vinification takes place in steel, with fermentation lasting between 15 and 18 days, followed by aging for approximately 12 months in large barrels and used casks.

The result is a wine that embodies the best of Chianti Classico. The robust character of sangiovese looks to the future while remaining deeply rooted in its heritage.
