Tasting notes Papadopoulos Viticulture Basilica 2023
Red wine Aged in wood Natural and Organic. 10 meses en barrica and 4 meses en depósitos de acero inoxidable.
Papadopoulos Viticulture Basilica 2023 captures the vibrant essence of the Olympian terroir. Its ruby-red hue entices with the aromas of forest fruits, such as blackberries and blueberries, intertwined with a hint of fresh herbs. The oak ageing imparts subtle toasted nuances that balance its natural fluidity. On the palate, it is light, with a lively freshness and delicate tannins leading to a persuasive and mineral finish, where the schist leaves its unforgettable mark. The conditions of 2023, with sunny days and cool nights, allowed for optimal ripening, resulting in a perfectly harmonised wine. Ideal for those seeking a wine that is both fragrant and elegantly structured.

About Papadopoulos Viticulture Basilica
Mount Olympus, the abode of the gods in Greek mythology, is not only a place steeped in history and mystery but also the heart of a rich wine tradition that has endured through the centuries. On the slopes of Olympus, in the Greek region of Thessaly, vineyards are cultivated that seem to whisper ancient legends, conveying the essence of the place in each bottle. Amidst this mystical land, we find Papadopoulos Viticulture, a family project born from a love for nature and a passion for wine.
It all began in 2017 when two brothers decided to pursue their dreams and put down roots, working with old vines that have grown deep into the slopes of Mount Olympus, within the protected designation of origin Rapsani. A cultivation of minimal intervention, respecting the soil and the surrounding environment, resulting in wines as pure as the spirit of Olympus.
With a highly limited production, they present Papadopoulos Viticulture Basilica, a unique gem that captures the essence of this schist soil at 600 metres above sea level and the breeze of the Aegean Sea. A cuvée that combines the three local varieties xinomavro, krassato, and stavroto, which mature slowly in the region's temperate climate, with fermentation occurring spontaneously, driven by indigenous yeasts. A wine that is ultimately bottled with minimal use of sulphites, allowing it to express its full natural character.
Papadopoulos Viticulture Basilica is a true gift for wine lovers seeking more than just a simple sip: a profound connection with history, nature, and the endeavour of two brothers who, with humility and respect, draw inspiration from the strength and grandeur of the gods of Mount Olympus.
