PradoRey Finca La Mina is a red wine made by the Bodegas Pradorey winery in Gumiel de Mercado (Burgos), D.O. Ribera del Duero.
Bodegas Pradorey is part of the historic estate of Real Sitio Ventosilla. The first documents found date back to 1503, when Queen Isabella of Castile bought this property and converted it into a royal estate. But it was not until 1989 when the first vines were planted in this immense 3,000 hectare estate.
The first Pradorey wines were put on the market in 1996 by the agronomist Javier Cremades de Adaro, who had purchased the estate a few years before. At present Pradorey has over 500 hectares of vineyard, divided into different plots. This division allows them to produce their wines in a way that is typical of the terroir, while respecting the characteristics of the grape.
PradoRey Finca La Mina is a red wine made with Tempranillo grapes from vineyards located at an altitude of between 807 and 820 meters, on sandy loam soils with a high limestone content.
Once the grapes are destemmed, they ferment in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 28º C, with a maceration that lasts 28 days. The aging process includes 18 months in French oak barrels and 6 months in conical Nevers wooden tanks.
