About Primitivo Collantes Viña Matalián

They say that the sense of smell is the one most closely linked to memory. And if there is one thing Primitivo Collantes recalls each time he steps through the door of his winery, it is those moments shared with his father and grandfather. From a young age, his playground and place of learning was among the casks and barrels. Entering there was like stepping into a landscape of scents: the wood, the grape, the damp earth, the fermenting must. Everything sparked questions and curiosity in him. There was always a "why?" awaiting an answer.

Today, that heritage remains vibrant in his winery Primitivo Collantes, in Chiclana de la Frontera (Andalusia). A project that has evolved without losing its roots, joining the movement that champions still white wines made with the palomino fino grape, a hallmark of the Jerez region in Cádiz.

Among these wines, Primitivo Collantes Viña Matalián stands out, a fresh and authentic white born in the Finca Matalián, located just 8 kilometres from the Bay of Cádiz and 96 metres above sea level. There, on 20 hectares of vineyard settled on the white albariza and caressed by the Atlantic climate, the palomino fino grape finds a perfect environment to express its character. Primitivo Collantes Viña Matalián ferments spontaneously, at controlled temperatures, in stainless steel tanks, from the free-run juice (the first obtained under pressure and considered of superior quality). The result is a vibrant white, with personality, that breathes the sea and land of Cádiz.

Thus, Primitivo Collantes Viña Matalián not only tells the story of a terroir but also that of a family that has made wine a legacy of memory, aromas, and tradition.
