Protos, one of the most iconic wineries in Ribera del Duero, has been synonymous with quality since its founding in 1927. Its history is marked by a relentless pursuit of perfection, a mission that has been recognized over the years, from its early achievements at the Universal Exposition in Barcelona, where its wines won the gold medal in 1927 and 1928, to being named Winery of the Year by Wine & Spirits. Protos continues to cultivate unique vineyards in the D.O. Ribera del Duero, where century-old vines tell tales of a land with centuries of winemaking tradition.
 
Protos Carroa is a masterpiece crafted from the tinto fino (tempranillo) variety, sourced from vineyards over 50 years old, located in the province of Burgos (Castilla y León, Spain) at altitudes and microclimates that bestow this red wine with a unique character.
 
After a manual harvest, the wine undergoes 16 months of aging in French oak barrels, followed by an additional 8 months in 12,500-litre French oak vats. The final touch in concrete eggs adds a complex texture that further enriches its profile.
 
Elegant and evocative, Protos Carroa unfolds on the palate with a velvety smoothness, where freshness intertwines with the intensity of the fruit, enveloping the palate in a harmonious experience.
