About Quinta do Sil

Galicia has always looked beyond its borders, and this adventurous spirit is also reflected in its creative endeavors. While many Galicians ventured to the Americas, not all remained far away. Some returned, others applied what they had learned, and some managed to bring that spirit of audacity and vision back to their homeland.

Granbazán epitomizes this outward-looking Galicia. Founded in 1981 in the Salnés Valley, right in the heart of the Rías Baixas, it captivates from the outset with its beautiful neoclassical building adorned with blue tiles, clearly influenced by the Indiano style. Surrounded by ancient albariño trellises and exuding an elegant château-like ambiance, the winery seamlessly blends into the Atlantic landscape. This uniqueness has earned it the distinction of being the only winery in Galicia included in the prestigious The World's Best Vineyards ranking, among the top 100 wine tourism destinations worldwide.

However, Granbazán does not rest on its laurels. Renowned for its elegant and expressive albariños, the winery now turns its gaze eastward to Galicia's Valdeorras, to bring to life a project as ambitious as it is delicate: Quinta do Sil.

This godello originates from old vineyards embracing the Sil River, in the parish of Seadur (Ourense), cultivated on slate and granite soils. Its production melds technique with sensitivity: destemming, a brief maceration of over 4 hours, gentle and slow pressing, static decantation, and prolonged fermentation in stainless steel. 

Every step of Quinta do Sil is, in essence, the culmination of a long-cherished dream. To craft in Valdeorras a white wine that seeks to preserve the expressiveness and finesse of the grape, resulting in an aromatic, complex, and characterful wine.
