About Rafael Cambra Soplo Blanc

Although we are just passing through this world, the truth is that we all like to do our bit. A key motivation that makes us human and contributes positively to enriching our lives and the lives of others. With this approach, after studying oenology in Montpellier (France) and working in different Rioja wineries like Viña Tondonia and Cune, Rafael Cambra decided to start his own project in his native Valencia, to reinterpret the wines produced specifically in the Fontanars dels Alforins area. To do this, he combines French varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc with native varieties like Monastrell and Malvasía and, following a philosophy of minimal intervention, he has created fresh wines with a marked Mediterranean profile that are known around the world.

His Rafael Cambra Soplo Blanc wine is a single-variety Malvasía from vines that grow in the lower part of the mountain range, at about 700 metres above sea level, with a continental climate and low rainfall. The work is carried out in an environmentally-friendly manner, and the grapes are harvested by hand in 15 kg boxes. Once in the winery, the grapes undergo direct and gentle pressing in a pneumatic press and the resulting must is fermented for 21 days in stainless steel tanks. Finally, the wine is aged on its own lees in these same containers before bottling.

An outstanding winemaker for his ability to convey the essence of the terroir to each wine and to emphasize the fruity character of the grape, Rafael Cambra Soplo Blanc is a wine not to be missed. A great discovery with a marked Mediterranean profile that you can’t miss.
