About Ramón Bilbao Reserva Selección de la Familia

Ramón Bilbao Reserva Selección de la Familia is a red wine made with the Tempranillo variety in D.O.Ca. Rioja by the Ramón Bilbao winery.

Officially, the Ramón Bilbao winery opened in 1924, however its first wine had already been sold on the streets of Haro (Rioja Alta) in 1896. Since 1999, the winery has been part of the Diego Zamora Group which the winemaker Rodolfo Bastida is also now a part of. At present, Ramón Bilbao wines come in a variety of styles. They make traditional Rioja wines but also some with a more modern and international style.

The Ramón Bilbao Reserva Selección de la Familia grape comes from two of the best vineyards in the winery. Strains over 70 years of age and planted at 650 metres above sea level. They use traditional agriculture and the grapes are harvested at the optimum point of maturation.

In the winery, Ramón Bilbao Reserva Selección de la Familia goes through a pre-fermentation cold maceration. It is destemmed with daily pumping over and fermented in wooden vats at a controlled temperature of 28ºC. The wine is aged for 20 months in French oak barrels.

Ramón Bilbao Reserva Selección de la Familia is a Limited Edition Reserva red wine with only 29,834 numbered bottles and is a tribute to the founder Ramón Bilbao.

Ramón Bilbao Reserva Original 43 2016 is a red wine with rich aromas of red fruits, flowers, balsamic and spices on the nose accompanied by subtle bakery notes. The palate is intense and fresh, with a pure expression of Tempranillo. A round and creamy red wine, with a precise acidity that promises an interesting aging potential.
2014 Ramón Bilbao Reserva Original 43 2014 is a complex wine with aromas of blackberry, liquorice and cloves. On the palate it is flavoursome and persistent with notes of plum, balsamic and minerals.
