About Josep Grau Viticultor Regina Rosado

Regina Rosado is a aged rosé wine made with the Garnacha Tinta and Garnacha Blanca varieties in the D.O. Montsant by Josep Grau Viticultor.

This winery was born out of a love for winemaking lands. A personal project that started when Josep Grau swapped his busy life in the city as a broker with a quiet village life as a winemaker. He now manages 26 hectares of vineyards of different ages and soils that he cultivates in a traditional way and without using pesticides. This is completely organic agriculture that aims to preserve the natural characteristics of the fruit from the vine to the bottle.

Regina Rosado comes from vineyards on an estate that Josep Grau has in the village of Marçà (Priorat). It is about one hectare of hundred-year-old strains planted in clay and slate soils, with a limited yield to obtain maximum concentration in the berry. Organic and biodynamic techniques are used in the vineyard and the harvest is completely manual.

In the winery, the Regina Rosado grapes are destemmed and pressed very slowly for about 7 hours. Once the must is obtained, it ferments spontaneously with native yeasts at a controlled temperature in 600-litre Austrian and German oak barrels. It then rests in the same foudres for 6 months with its lees. It is finally bottled, adding only the minimum amount of sulphur.

Although aged rosé wines are not common in Montsant, Regina Rosado is a chance to enjoy the balance between freshness and the barrel. A seductive and fragrant wine that is presented in an attractive Burgundy style bottle.
2020

Regina Rosado 2020 is a fruity rosé wine bursting with delightful strawberry nuances complemented by herbaceous undertones. On the palate, it is vibrant, fresh, and enticingly sweet. This culinary wine boasts a harmonious acidity, seamlessly integrated oak, and a lingering finish that beckons for another taste.
2018 Regina rosado 2018 is a pearl pink coloured, floral rosé wine with aromas of roses and sweet species. On the palate it is creamy, broad and deep. The finish is persistent and sweet.
