About Reyneke Biodynamic Sauvignon Blanc

At Reyneke Farm, nestled in the heart of Stellenbosch (South Africa), it's not just the wines that exude character. Johan Reyneke is fervently devoted to his animals and knows the story of each one. As he puts it: “Every being and every thing has a unique personality and contributions to make to the whole.”

Thus, when he took over his mother's farming activities in 1998, Johan made a radical shift from conventional farming to organic, and later fully embraced pure biodynamics. His philosophy is clear: “The intention is to interfere as little as possible, to let nature be the true creator of the wine and to produce wines that are truly terroir-specific with the highest quality.”

His 20-hectare estate, overlooking the mountains and the breathtaking False Bay, has become a beacon of South African wine. Here, the wines bear a distinctive hallmark. They are characterised by perfect balance, gentle acidity, oak and fruit naturally integrated, and an authentic expression of the place.

Reyneke Biodynamic Sauvignon Blanc is born from decomposed granite soils that impart freshness and minerality, with grapes handpicked and meticulously selected. Some of the grapes are destemmed before pressing, while the last bunches are pressed whole. The must rests overnight in stainless steel at a cool temperature and ferments naturally in French barrels, where it remains for 9 months on its lees, gaining texture and complexity without losing freshness.

The result is a vibrant, elegant, and pure sauvignon blanc, where each sip reflects Johan's philosophy. Reyneke Biodynamic Sauvignon Blanc epitomises absolute respect for nature, the land, and all the beings that inhabit it.
