About Salanques

Salanques is a red wine from the Priorat, produced by the Mas Doix winery. The winery is located in the town of Poboleda (Tarragona), northeast of Priorat.

Salanques is a blend of Grenache (65%), Carignan (25%) and Syrah (10%) varieties. The grapes come from vineyards planted between 350 and 500m altitude on "licorella costers” (slate soils).

The harvest is done by hand and once in the winery the grapes go through a double selection table. Subsequently, a temperature-controlled fermentation occurs, keeping the fermenting grape whole.

After winemaking, the wine is aged for 14 months in new and second year French oak barrels of superfine grain. 

2021
Salanques 2021 is a red wine that, on the nose, unfolds aromas reminiscent of red berries (raspberries and strawberries), complemented by floral notes and nuances of dark chocolate and vanilla. On the palate, it is rich and dense, yet with subtlety, elegance, and a refreshing quality. In addition to red fruits, it also reveals black fruits and a hint of spices. This red wine boasts a lengthy, clean finish and a delightful maturity. Exquisitely flavorful.
 
2017

Salanques 2017 is a concentrated red wine with aromas of ripe red and black fruits, floral notes and toasted hints. On the palate it’s fresh, lively and intense. A medium-bodied wine with fresh acidity, polished tannins and a long, balsamic finish.
2012 Powerful and fiery entry. Fruity and mineral sensations. Well-structured with marked tannins and fatty notes. Round aftertaste.

High layer with garnet purple reflections. Dense tear.

Great aromatic intensity, a presence of ripe red fruit with sweet notes, balsamic and minerals.
2011 Burly and passionate. Great structure with lots of fruit, minerals and timber, integrated flavours. Wide and angular tannins.

Covered high layer, dense and thick tear.

Powerful and concentrated, with deep mineral notes of stone and black fruit (plum compote), light wood memories and chocolate.
2007 Very good bulky attack with abundant sensations that coat the mouth with sweet notes of fruit and great velvety toasted aromas. Very tasty wine, with good and nice tannins which still need some time to round out. Very good and balanced acidity. Very long and persistent finish that leaves a good mineral sensation in the background.

Intense cherry red colour with purple edges. Very good robe. Dense slow-falling tears.

Very seductive and intense aromas. Its notes of very sweet, almost candied, black fruit and some notes of juicy red fruit are released along with abundant aromas of spices, mainly oriental and noble toasted hints provided by the ageing in oak, outstanding notes of magnificent and very suggestive cocoa and a notable balsamic nuances, on a large mineral background (reminiscent of the typical slate from the region). It takes time to open up, but after swirling the glass, it becomes an explosion of aromas.
