About Sang de Corb

Sang de Corb is a red wine produced by the winery Celler Frisach, in Corbera d'Ebre (Tarragona), D.O. Terra Alta.

Celler Frisach is a family-run winery that was created in 2009 by two brothers, Joan and Francesc Ferré. The winery’s aim is to make wines with local varieties, which show their work, the territory and its vineyards, vindicating the modesty, the life of the countrypeople, viticulture and Corbera d'Ebre, its village.

Celler Frisach has 40 hectares of its own vineyards, cultivated organically, mainly with White Grenache, Red Grenache, Downy Grenache (Garnacha Peluda) and Carignan. These vineyards are located in the middle of the scenarios where the Battle of the Ebro took place, a situation that they take advantage of to remember and honour events that will never be forgotten, especially in these lands.

Sang de Corb is a red wine made with Red Grenache, Downy Grenache (Garnacha Peluda) and Carignan cultivated together in a same vineyard, Finca Dellà del Riu, also with almond, olive and apple trees. The vineyard is over 65 years old and is planted on stony clay-calcareous soils.

The harvest is performed by hand. Once the grapes arrive at the winery, they ferment with local yeasts in stainless steel deposits. This wine is aged for 12 months in 300 litre oak barrels.

Sang de Corb
(meaning ‘crow’s blood’) is a tribute to the people who fought in the Battle of the Ebro. The first vintage of this wine, 2011, hit the market in 2013, when 75 years of the battle were commemorated.

2016 Sang de Corb is an intense, ample and concentrated wine. On the nose, aromas of red fruit, violets and toasted and spicy notes of its ageing stand out. In the mouth, it is powerful, with a good structure and a very elegant silky touch.
