About Sangre de Toro

When Miguel Torres Carbó, the third generation at the helm of Bodegas Torres, decided to create a distinctive wine to market globally, he did not hesitate: he climbed into his Renault 4 and tirelessly traversed the vineyards in search of the finest red grapes of the region: garnacha and cariñena. Thus began the story of Sangre de Toro, a red wine from the D.O. Catalunya, born in 1954 with the aim of expressing the true character of the land.

A wine that is not only a tribute to Bacchus, the Roman god of wine, known as "The Son of the Bull," but also a reflection of the passion, tradition, and effort that the Torres family has invested in every bottle, generation after generation. Sangre de Toro is regarded as a global benchmark of quality Spanish wine, and it remains a wine rich in history, now with a touch of modernity that gives it a "second youth."

Crafted by Bodegas Torres, arguably the most internationally recognized Spanish winery, Sangre de Toro is a blend of garnacha and cariñena, with selected grapes, destemmed and fermented at controlled temperatures. It is then macerated for two weeks and aged for six months in French and American oak barrels, achieving a smooth, balanced wine full of character.

Today, Sangre de Toro is a true ambassador of the Spanish Way of Wine, reaching over 100 countries worldwide. So much so that it is an Official Partner of the Spanish National Football Team, with whom it shares colour, origin, and values. A dream of Miguel Torres brought to fruition.

Perelada Només Garnatxa Blanca 2024 is a red wine that boasts a deep, intense ruby and cherry red hue. On the nose, it reveals Mediterranean aromas with hints of forest fruits such as blackcurrant and spices. On the palate, it offers a velvety tannin with final notes of liquorice. Sangre de Toro 2022 is an alluring red wine, distinguished by its youthful vigour and lightness. As you bring it to your nose, you are greeted by a robust bouquet of blackberries and ripe plums, interwoven with hints of vanilla and a subtle undercurrent of coffee. On the palate, it unfolds its spicy essence and velvety texture, delivering a delightful tasting experience and a lingering finish that beckons for another sip. Its fluid and flavorful profile renders it effortlessly enjoyable for any occasion.

Sangre de Toro 2021 is a smooth red wine with intense aromas of ripe black fruit accompanied by spicy notes and roasted undertones. On the palate, it's warm, luscious, and versatile. A wine with a firm presence, fine acidity, and a very pleasant finish.
2018

Sangre de Toro 2018 is a supple red wine brimming with aromas of ripe dark fruit, creamy undertones, and hints of roasted and spiced nuances. On the palate, it is flavorsome, robust, and warm. A wine characterized by sweet tannins and a prolonged, affable finish.

2014 Medium body and good acidity. Bitter notes and a long aftertaste.

Clean and intense cherry red with a pale garnet rim.

Fruity notes and a milky touch. Spicy and toasted aromas with balsamic undertones.
2013 On the palate this red wine has a medium body and direct passage. Notes of red currents and liquorice. The right acidity and a slightly bitter finish. A classic.

Fruity aromas with milky notes. Mild spices, toasted and balsamic notes that complete a medium intensity on the nose.
2011 In the mouth, this Spanish wine is quite well-bodied and shows a direct mid palate. Some hints of redcurrant and liquorice are also noticed. A wine with a correct acidity and some final bitter hints. A great classic.

Dark cherry colour with pale maroon edges. Clean and bright.

Its aromas of fruit stand out along with some milky notes. Its light spicy, balsamic and toasted notes round out this medium-intensity nose.
