About Santa Tresa Insieme Nero d'Avola

When Stefano and Marina Girelli, along with their partner Massimo Maggio, took the helm of the Santa Tresa estate in Vittoria, in the south of Sicily, in the year 2000, they pledged to restore it to its former glory. To achieve this, they decided to go beyond, implementing practices in complete harmony with the natural environment. This entire work philosophy was learned from their alliance with Stellar Winery, a South African winery specialising in organic viticulture and certified for fair trade and social responsibility by Ecocert/IMO Fair for Life.

From this union was born Santa Tresa Insieme Nero d'Avola, a wine whose name "Insieme" means "together" in Italian, reflecting their joint commitment to sustainability and respect for the land. Crafted from the nero d'Avola variety, it originates from vines planted on sandy and clay soils located on a plain bordered to the north by the Dirillo river, to the east by the Iblei mountains, and to the southwest open to the sea. Organic farming is practised, and the vines benefit from a cool southern sea breeze that offsets the inland heat. The harvest is manual, at the optimal moment of ripeness, and is immediately transported to the winery. There, the grapes are selected and gently pressed. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled fermentation tanks to preserve the fruity aromas, and then the wine ages in stainless steel tanks for 3 months.

With a vibrant and balanced character, Santa Tresa Insieme Nero d'Avola is a wine that not only captures the essence of the Sicilian terroir but also reflects this winery's dedication and commitment to sustainability and quality at every stage of the process.

Santa Tresa Insieme Nero d'Avola 2022 boasts a vibrant deep red hue with violet undertones. Its intense bouquet unveils aromas of ripe cherries, blackcurrants, and a delicate hint of spice. On the palate, it is full-bodied, harmonious, and velvety, with a subtle touch of chocolate and spices that culminates in a long and pleasurable finish.
