Scala Dei Prior 2022 is a red wine from Priorat that stands out for its intense, bright, and clear ruby hue. Upon bringing it to the nose, one is enveloped by an intense fragrance of wild strawberries and blackberries, accompanied by a delicate floral touch of violets. These aromas are enriched with subtle spicy notes and a slight toasted background. On the palate, it reveals its exquisite body and elegance; it is silky, with mature tannins that caress the palate. The characteristic mineral touch from the "llicorella" soil adds depth to its flavours. Recommended for its balance and the complexity each sip offers.

About Scala Dei Prior

Scala Dei Prior is a red wine from Priorat produced by the Scala Dei winery. It is a blend of Grenache (55%), Samso (20%), Cabernet Sauvignon (15%) and Syrah (10%) varieties.

The grapes used for Scala Dei Prior come from different carefully selected small plots. The vines are planted on "costers", a Catalan name by which the outstanding characteristics of Priorat are known.

The soils on which strains grow are slate, called "licorella" in the area. The grapes, before passing through a cold maceration, pass through a stripping. The juice of Scala Dei Prior then undergoes a controlled fermentation.

Scala Dei Prior is finally aged for twelve months in new and one year French oak barrels -80% of them-and American- the remaning 20%.

Before going to market, Scala Dei Prior then rests for at least four months in the bottle. Scala Dei is a historic winery located at the foot of the Sierra del Montsant whose building was already chosen in the twelfth century by Carthusian monks from the Provence to build a monastery. It was these same monks who began to cultivate the vine and the land, it then became the first winery in the Priorat.

2013 Structured and full bodied. Fruity, fine tannins and perfect acidity. Mineral and slightly spicy, has a long, dry finish.

Attractive ruby colour with garnet and violet tones. Intense high layer.

Expressive and fine. Intense notes of red fruit with hints of violets and spicy aromas of pepper and notes of the forest.

On the palate it is full of flavour. Very fruity with mature tannins and elegant with marvellous acidity. Mineral notes from the slates from the growth.
Very harmonious. Long and dry finish with spicy notes on the retronasal breathing

On the nose it is very expressive and elegant. Intense. Red fruits, violets, some spices like pepper, notes of vanilla, forest.
2010 A full-bodied and very well structured red wine with a tasty and silky mid palate. It shows a good load of fruit. Very balanced wine with ripe and refined tannins, perfectly complemented with an excellent acidity. Very harmonious. Long and persistent finish.

Clean nasal aromas with a medium-high aromatic intensity. The notes of red and black fruit stand out. Some spicy and toasted notes provided during its ageing in barrels are also noticed on a quite mineral background.

Ruby red colour with maroon edges and violet reflections. Clean and bright wine.

Wine with a high aromatic intensity, which shows outstanding notes of red and black fruit and floral hints reminiscent of violets. Some spicy and toasted aromas provided during the ageing in barrels are also noticed along with a marked minerality.
