About Schoenheitz Mêtis

"Wealth lies in fusion." Consider an unexpected recipe, like chocolate with a hint of chili: the contrast unveils surprising flavours. Similarly, in a wine, richness arises from the blending of varieties and terroirs.

And thus, the Schoenheitz family has been bottling wines since 1980 on the slopes of Wihr-au-Val, at the gateway to the Munster valley (Alsace), at an altitude of up to 500 metres. The granitic soils and the extreme growing conditions in these foothills of the Vosges allow for the pure and subtle expression of Alsatian cépages.

Today, the project continues in the hands of Jean-Philippe Manchès, who passionately cultivates a 17-hectare vineyard certified in organic farming. His cuvée Schoenheitz Mêtis is an orange wine, the result of a delicate blend of gewürztraminer and riesling.

Schoenheitz Mêtis is crafted following an ancient Alsatian vinification method, where alcoholic fermentation occurs with the skins, seeds, pulp, and stems, offering aromatic depth and a unique texture. Mêtis, meaning "mixed" or "blend" in French, perfectly embodies the idea that fusion gives birth to richness, revealing the subtle balance between power and delicacy, tradition and audacity.
