About Secastilla

Secastilla is a red wine made by the Viñas del Vero winery in Somontano, located in the foothills of the Pyrenees by the Cinca and Vero rivers.

Secastilla is a varietal Grenache from very old vines planted in the valley of Secastilla, after which the wine is named.

The vineyards are planted at an altitude of 700 metres, on Franco-sandy slopes with lots of stones.

Viñas del Vero uses organic fertilizers, mostly manure and compost. The harvest is done manually, with a first selection of grapes in the vineyard and a second on the selection table.

The grapes are destemmed and cooled.

Fermentation occurs at a temperature below 25 degrees over 15 days. Secastilla spends 10 months aging in new French oak barrels.

2010 A good entrance. Fresh, sweet and well structured. Tannins, yet polished. Good acidity. Roasted red fruit, pepper and balsamic memories.

Cherry red with violet edges. High layer, clean and bright.

Medium intensity nose, with subtle aromas. Red fruit with toasty notes from aging. Vanilla, cocoa and minerals.
2007 Elegant, complex and very fresh wine with a wide attack and a dense, meaty and powerful mid palate. Its abundant expressive notes of fruit are released along with earthy and creamy notes. Its very good acidity provides it with freshness. Very long finish which leaves a nice spicy background.

Intense dark ruby â??â??red colour with violet reflections. Very bright wine with glycerique tears.

Complex. The notes of ripe black fruit are intermingled with an outstanding mineral touch and hints of licorice, along with some spices... on its balsamic expressive and polished background.
2005 Elegant, fresh and structured mouth, highlights its powerful fruit load, consistent with pleasant notes of milk, chocolate and a souvenir of coffee bean.

Presents a beautiful bright cherry color.

Nose is fine with delicious aromas of candied fruits with balsamic notes, chocolate, liquorice and black olives.
