Selvadolce Vermentino VB1 2021 is an orange wine with an alluring intense golden yellow hue. On the nose, it is distinguished by notes of pine needles and hints of Mediterranean scrub, accompanied by aromas of fruits such as lemon and peach. On the palate, it is fresh and flavoursome, with an enveloping texture. This wine embodies the elegance and character of Ligurian vermentino grapes, displaying vibrant citrus and fruity flavours, as well as a refreshing acidity and subtle saline and mineral notes.

About Selvadolce Vermentino VB1

If you have no knowledge of wines and your first mentor is the king of biodynamics, it's impossible not to be forever influenced. Thus began the extraordinary journey of Aris Blancardi, a veterinarian specialising in horses, who never imagined that his true passion awaited him amidst vineyards and barrels.

It all started when Aris inherited the family estate on the coast of Liguria, Italy. With no experience in viticulture and not even a wine drinker, he faced a challenge that would transform his life. He was fortunate to learn from one of the greats: Nicolas Joly, a true legend in biodynamics. What might have been intimidating for others was a revelation for Aris. He not only discovered the enchantment of crafting natural wines but also found his calling: to create genuine wines, a pure reflection of the land and environment from which they are born.

Today, at Selvadolce, the estate he transformed into a model of respect for nature, Aris produces wines that narrate stories. A perfect example of his philosophy is Selvadolce Vermentino VB1. Crafted from vermentino grapes planted at an altitude of 600 meters on sandy soils, this wine is the epitome of minimal intervention. The spontaneous fermentation is carried out with native yeasts, without artificial additives or sulphur. Vinification in used barrels provides balance, while the brief maceration with the skins and an eight-month ageing on fine lees in wood add structure, texture, and complexity. It is neither filtered nor clarified, preserving its integrity and a slight cloudiness, characteristic of natural wines.

Selvadolce Vermentino VB1 connects with the wind, the sun, and the magic of Liguria. It is a wine that does not seek technical perfection, but rather the truth of the terroir.
