About Sicus A Wine Work Orange

Sicus A Wine Work Orange is an orange wine made by Sicus with the Macabeo variety in Penedès (Catalonia).

Sicus was set up in 2010 by Eduard, a winegrower who decided to follow in the footsteps of his family’s agricultural legacy in the town of Bonastre (Baix Penedès) and began to make his own wines. He himself describes his wines as being a “liquid synopsis” of the weather conditions of that year. These are, in short, original wines and authentic reflections of their birthplace.

Sicus A Wine Work Orange comes from vines planted in the Bonastre massif valley at 170 metres above sea level and with a strong Mediterranean influence. The vines grow in calcareous soils with little organic matter and they are cultivated without using any fertilisers, pesticides or herbicides. Instead, they are grown using environmentally friendly agriculture and the harvest is carried out manually.

In the winery, Sicus A Wine Work Orange is made by squeezing all the grapes leftover in the tank after the other Sicus productions have been removed. In other words, it involves pressing whole grapes that have been macerating for 8 to 90 days. It ages for 40 days in amphora and finally spends 8 months in stainless steel tanks.

Sicus A Wine Work Orange is a wine that break with tradition and offers a great variety of grapes and terroirs in the same glass. A wine with a freelance character.

2019 Sicus A Wine Work Orange 2019 is an orange wine with aromas of ripe white fruit and notes of Mediterranean forest. On the palate it is fresh, deep and unctuous with marked tannins and a long and broad finish.
