About Sierra Cantabria Organza

Sierra Cantabria Oganza is a white wine produced by the Viñedos Sierra Cantabria winery in the Rioja region.

Viñedos Sierra Cantabria is a small winery that belongs to the Sierra Cantabria group, owned by the Eguren family, also owners of the wineries Teso la Monja in Toro and Sierra Cantabria and Dominio de Eguren also in Rioja.

Sierra Cantabria Organza is a classic riojan blend white wine, containing the varieties viura, malvasía and grenache blanc. The grapes come from the wineries own vineyards situated in San Vincente de la Sonsierra, in the Rioja Alta. The vinyards are cultivated in an ecological manner which is respectful to the environment. Infact, the Sierra Cantabria does not use chemical products, only organic fertilizers every 2 years.

The harvest is carried out manually, with the grapes being transported to the winery in small boxes of no more than 20kg, which ensure they remain in the best condition possible. On arrival at the winery, the best bunches are again selected at a selection table. The grapes then undergo cold maceration for 12 hours before being fermented in new French oak barrels from Vosgues at 14-16ºC with indigenous yeasts.

Sierra Cantabria Organza is then aged for 9 months in barrels. The wine spends the first six months on its lees, with battonages occuring every week.

It is an elegant white wine, flavourful and complex and serves as a brilliant example of barrel aged white wines in the Rioja region. 

2021

Sierra Cantabria Organza 2021 unveils itself as a white wine that charms with its lightness and subtle bouquet. Bringing it close to the nose, it unfurls scents of crisp green apple and ripe pear, interwoven with hints of citrus and white blossoms. On the palate, its silky texture and creamy profile beckon one to relish each sip, culminating in a prolonged and gratifying finish that leaves a delightful aftertaste. It is a harmonious wine, boasting a refreshing acidity and an elegant demeanor.
2019

Sierra Cantabria Organza 2019 is a bright golden white. It has aromas of tropical fruit, minerality and spices. The palate is round and smooth with a silky texture and a spicy and mineral finish.
2012 This white wine has bulky attack and is rich and structured on the palate with a very nice refreshing acidity. Powerful smoky, spicy and toasted notes that linger throughout a long and persistent finish.

Pretty and intense straw yellow colour with green and gold reflections. Clean and very bright. Pretty fine tears show on the glass.

Medium-high intensity and very complex. Perfect balance between fruity aromas (ripe white fruit, tropical notes and citrus peel) and aromas of its production process (fine toasted notes, hints of yeast). Light floral and balsamic notes in the background.
2011 This white wine is bulky, unctuous and structured, with a very good acidity that refreshes and sharpens its passage through the mouth. Powerful smoky, spicy and toasted notes linger after a long and persistent finish.

2008 As its name suggests (Organza), this white wine by Sierra Cantabria is pure silk and one of the best and most elegant. It has a very good attack and a very tasty, silky and unctuous mid palate. The white fruit and citrus reemerge along with a touch of herbs and nuts. Wooden notes are barely noticed, since they are very well integrated with some smoky notes. Fine acidity that provides the adequate freshness. Long and very persistent finish. Very elegant wine.

Very bright and clean golden colour. Very good and glyceric legs.

Intense and fine aromas of fruit among which white fruits (green apple) and citrus take centre stage. Its subtle minerality and its wide creamy notes round out this wine.
