About Tatsis Negoska Rosé
With Greece being the starting point of ancient winemaking, Greek wines are recognised among the best in the world. Its climate, culture and tradition will leave you wanting to try them and the Tatsis family knew this from the beginning when they arrived in Goumenissa, in Macedonia (Greece), after the war between the Turks and the Greeks. Today, brothers Pericles and Stelios Tatsis continue the family legacy with their 14 hectares of vineyards. They belong to a small group of pioneering Greek winemakers who in the 1990s began using minimal intervention techniques in winemaking and, focussing on biodynamic agriculture and maintaining a lively ecosystem, over the years they have positioned themselves as great advocates of native varieties and terroir.
Specifically, their Tatsis Negoska Rosé wine is born on the Limbaskerit hill, which means “the hill where angels live”. A hill at an altitude of 250-300 metres above sea level with sloping soils made of limestone and sandy. With a semi-continental climate with some snowfall in the winter and warmth in the summer, the native Negoska variety thrives through strictly organic and biodynamic cultivation. Once the grapes reach the winery, they undergo 12 to 18 hours of extraction and then ferment with native yeasts at a constant controlled temperature. The wine remains on the lees for about a month and is finally bottled unfiltered and with a minimal amount of sulphur.
Complex and profound, Tatsis Negoska Rosé is a rosé like no other. A unique wine that, thanks to the respect for the qualities of an native variety and terroir, tastes like the angels made it.
| 2019 |
Tatsis Negoska Rosé 2019 is an intricate rosé featuring nuanced scents of strawberry, stone cherry, and orange zest, complemented by sweet undertones of honey and cinnamon, and refreshing hints of minty botanicals. On the palate, it is profound, fruit-forward, and invigorating. This wine boasts a vibrant acidity and subtle tannic nuances that contribute to its overall complexity. |
