About Altavins Tempus

Tempus is a red wine from D.O. Terra Alta produced by Altavins Viticultors. This wine is a coupage of the varieties Syrah, Grenache, Carignan and Merlot.

The grapes used in Tempus come from vineyards that are over 30 years old, located in two small farms of very low production in the town of Batea. The harvesting of the berries is entirely manual, and they are transported in small boxes, in order to preserve the qualities of the bunches and make sure they do not break.

When they arrive at the winery, the grapes used in Tempus macerate for 22 days in stainless steel deposits. Then, in the same containers, they go through the fermentation with the skins at a controlled temperature. This way, they manage to achieve structured and complex wine.

After the various stages of winemaking, Tempus rests for ten months in French oak barrels. Before it is launched on the market, it ages for around a year in the bottle.

Altavins Viticultors is the result of the effort of three partners. The current winery was founded in 2003, but the dream began in 1999. Located in the town of Batea, near Tarragona, the winery currently has 14 hectares of vineyards.

2018

Tempus 2018 is a profound red wine. On the nose, it is robust, exuding scents of raspberry, plums, vanilla, cocoa, and spices (clove). On the palate, it is genial and meaty, boasting a commendable acidity level. The tannins are pleasing. It culminates in an extensive and lingering finish.
2011 Delectable and warming, with a silky mouthfeel. Harmoniously balanced and possessing excellent acidity. It concludes with a lengthy and persistent finish.

Deep cherry hue with purple nuances.

Fleshy notes accompanied by hints of dark fruit.
2006 Nice, meaty, with a good level of acidity to counterbalance the warmth of alcohol and pleasant tannins. Persistent and long finish.

Vivid color.

Aromas of black plums and strawberries. Vanilla and cocoa with spicy clove.
