About Thierry Mortet Gevrey-Chambertin Vigne Belle

Thierry Mortet Gevrey-Chambertin Vigne Belle is a biodynamic single-variety Pinot Noir red wine made by Domaine Thierry Mortet under the A.O.C. Gevrey-Chambertin, in Burgundy, France.

The clusters used to make the Thierry Mortet Gevrey-Chambertin Vigne Belle wine come from 20 different plots that make up a total of 3 hectares where the soils are a mixture of mainly clay and silt. This diversity means the vine age varies and ranges from 15 to 60 years of age.

The harvest is carried out manually with the grapes selected in the vineyard and on the selection table. The clusters are all destemmed and then macerate for about 15 days followed by a cold stabilisation for 4 or 5 days. The must ferments in stainless steel tanks for 4 months and the resulting wine ages for twelve months in new and first- and second-use oak barrels.

Located in the famous Burgundy region of Gevrey-Chambertin, Domaine Thierry Mortet works around seven hectares using the principles of biodynamic agriculture with the aim of drawing out the true Gevrey character through the sincere expression of the grape varieties, which results in frank, complex and truly “terroir” wines.
2016 Thierry Mortet Gevrey-Chambertin Vigne Belle 2016 is a red wine with aromas of cherries and blackberries on the nose, accompanied by herbal and spicy nuances of black pepper and nutmeg and a touch of liquorice. On the palate it is light and tasty, reaffirming the fruit with a special depth and maturity that is characteristic of the Gevrey-Chambertin Pinot Noir.
