Tasting notes Tiberio Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo 2023
Rosé wine Organic.
Tiberio Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo 2023 captivates with its elegant transparent ruby hue, suggesting an unparalleled freshness. As we approach, the aroma envelops us with memories of delicate rose petals, citrus hints of cedar shavings, juicy wild blueberries, and a subtle mineral touch of crushed stone. On the palate, it surprises with its lively freshness and juiciness, led by ripe red fruits. The finish is a harmonious balance of savoury spices, a delicate bitterness, and the floral and slightly tart notes of blueberry, leaving a lasting impression. The 2023 vintage is particularly noteworthy for its balance and refined acidity, making it a refreshing and versatile choice for any occasion.

About Tiberio Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo
“For some, chemistry is a dirty word,” remarks Cristiana Tiberio, as she examines small samples of wine in her laboratory within the farmhouse kitchen. “But it isn't. Chemistry is knowledge.” Since her teenage years, Cristiana has harboured the same fascination for white wine as for the science she studied at university. A combination she occasionally has to defend against those who favour an entirely natural approach to viticulture. As she practices in the family winery, chemistry serves to understand and guide processes, always within a biodynamic framework, respecting the land and the vineyard's health.
The story begins in the late 1990s, when Riccardo Tiberio discovers an ancient vineyard of trebbiano Abruzzese, nearly extinct and often mistaken for trebbiano Toscano, in the hills surrounding Cugnoli. Determined to realise his dream, he relocates his family from the coast of Pescara, leaving behind his position as an export manager at a regional winery. Thus, a project is born that today redefines the wines of Abruzzo, with the estate nestled at the foot of the Gran Sasso d’Italia and Monte Amaro.
Since 2008, the winery has been managed by his children: Antonio, responsible for the vineyards, and Cristiana, overseeing the vinification. Both trained alongside internationally renowned producers such as Jacques Selosse, Nicolas Joly, and Egon Müller, bringing precision and expertise to the family tradition.
From this passion arises Tiberio Cerasuolo d’Abruzzo, a wine that mirrors the hills of Cugnoli and the meticulous care of the winery in every bottle. The montepulciano vineyards cover 9 hectares at an altitude of 350 metres, planted on limestone soils, with an average vine age of 24 years. The harvest is entirely manual, the destemming carefully preserves only the free-run juice, and fermentation occurs in stainless steel at controlled temperatures using indigenous yeasts, without malolactic fermentation. Finally, the wine ages in the bottle, preserving all its freshness and varietal expression.
Tiberio Cerasuolo d’Abruzzo is elegant, fresh, and vibrant. A wine that offers a mindful approach where science and biodynamic tradition converge to create an authentic wine full of character.
