Figuero Reserva 2020 is a red wine of profound and contemporary character, unveiling on the nose with ripe black fruit —plum, black cherry— interwoven with notes of intense cocoa, cigar box, and a delicate hint of white pepper. On the palate, it presents itself as vibrant and enveloping, with a silky texture that gives way to echoes of liquorice and well-integrated ripe fruit. Its finish is long and elegant, with a polished tannin that complements without dominating. A red wine that graces the table and elevates the moment without needing to raise its voice.

About Figuero Reserva

One thousand is the starting point for the creation of Viñedos y Bodegas García. A thousand vines that José María García and Milagros Figuero received the year they got married in 1961. A clone of Tempranillo from pre-phylloxera vines that arrived from France in 1908 after the terrible invasive plague and which the newlyweds were able to take advantage of to give rise to their most personal project in their home village, La Horra, in Burgos (Castille and León). After years of cultivation to obtain a quality grape, in 2001, with the help of their children Carlos, Henar and Antonio, they finally saw their dream of making their own wines come true. Figuero Reserva is the result of this dream come true.

Figuero Reserva comes from old vines over 60 years old planted in clayey, sandy and gravelly soils. Low production vines (1 kg per vine) which, thanks to the great thermal contrasts of the continental climate, offer an extraordinary concentration and quality. Once harvested by hand in chestnut baskets of 12 kilos, the grapes undergo a cold skin maceration in the winery for 2 days at 12ºC and then ferment with temperature control and a total maceration of 16-17 days. Finally the wine is aged for 15 months in French (90%) and American (10%) oak barrels and rests for a minimum of 21 months in the bottle for further refinement.

Once it leaves the cellar, Figuero Reserva is elegant, ample and with great ageing potential. A wine with 100% character D.O. Ribera del Duero, which reflects the perseverance, experience and sense of belonging of a family that has dedicated body and soul to their land.

2019

Figuero Reserva 2019 boasts a complex bouquet, where spices such as clove, nutmeg, and pink peppercorn intertwine with ripe red fruits like cherry and strawberry, alongside black fruits such as blackberry, complemented by subtle notes of 80% cocoa. On the palate, it offers a long and enveloping entry, beginning with cocoa that swiftly melds with black and red fruits. Hints of bramble and menthol also emerge, delivering a fluid and balanced wine that beckons continued enjoyment.                      
2018

Tinto Figuero 15 2018 unveils a spectrum of aromas where ripe black fruit, such as blackberry jam and cherry, intertwines with a spicy touch of black pepper, coriander, and a hint of nutmeg. Balsamic notes of cedar add a layer of sophisticated complexity. On the palate, it is dense and lingering, with velvety tannins leading to a masterful balance. The fruity and spicy flavors extend, delivering a finish that appears endless. An elegant red wine, replete with nuances.
2016

Tinto Figuero 15 2016 is a concentrated red wine where the aromas of black fruit amalgamate with spiced notes, hints of liquorice and reminiscences of wood. On the palate it’s complex, ample and elegant. A wine with a silky tannic structure and a very good balance. The finish is long with a very present aftertaste.
