About Tomás Postigo 3er Año

According to Tomás Postigo in an interview, "the ideal wine from Ribera del Duero must include tinto fino, cabernet, merlot, malbec, and French oak." No sooner said than done! This blend emerges as the magical formula to achieve one of the finest reds of this denomination in Tomás Postigo 3º Año.

Under the guidance of this oenologist, considered one of the veterans of the D.O. Ribera del Duero, this red wine establishes itself in wine cellars as a classic that no wine enthusiast should miss. More than just a red wine, Tomás Postigo 3º Año is a living history of a legend that began in the 1980s, when there were barely three wineries in this central-northern region of Spain. At that time, Tomás Postigo was among the pioneers who recognized the potential of a denomination that was just beginning to take its first steps. This not only acknowledged the quality of the limestone and sandy-loam soils but also introduced a series of innovations that remain in vogue today, such as drip irrigation, the use of French oak, and the racking and movement of wine by gravity.

Tomás Postigo 3º Año is harvested manually, in 12 kg boxes, ensuring that the grapes arrive at the winery in good condition. Once inside the facilities located in Peñafiel, Tomás Postigo 3º Año is destemmed and transferred by gravity, without crushing, into stainless steel tanks, where both alcoholic and malolactic fermentation will occur. Each plot is handled separately, including its aging in French oak barrels, where it will rest for approximately a year. Before bottling, Tomás Postigo 3º Año is clarified with natural egg white, resulting in a wine that we assure you will not disappoint.
