About Tornatore Etna Bianco

In 2010, when Francesco Tornatore had made his fortune in telecommunications, he decided to build a beautiful wine estate in the village of Castiglione di Sicilia, on the north side of the Etna volcano (Sicily) and to recover the vineyards planted by his great-grandfather in 1865. A championing of native varieties where, at an altitude of 600-1000 metres, the grapes flee from Sicily’s typically high temperatures to produce wines with a surprising freshness and elegance.

His Tornatore Etna Bianco white wine is made from Carricante grapes, a local variety that grows on the north side of the Etna volcano, 650 metres above sea level where the volcanic soils give it an unparalleled minerality. The grapes are selected and destemmed by hand and, after gentle pressing, the resulting must is fermented in concrete tanks at a controlled temperature of 15-16°C and remains on the lees for 3 months in the same tanks.

Tornatore Etna Bianco is made with the utmost respect for the terroir combined with modern winemaking methods and is a precise, elegant and easy to drink white wine with a very attractive price by Etna standards.

Tornatore Etna Bianco 2021 is a defined white wine with aromas of green apple, citrus notes and hints of aromatic herbs. On the palate it is fresh, flavoursome and precise. A wine with a pleasant flavour and extraordinary minerality.
