About Torremilanos Ojo Gallo Rosado

Torremilanos Ojo Gallo Rosado is a barrel-aged rosé wine made according to biodynamic principles in the D.O. Ribera de Duero (Castilla y León) by the Torremilanos winery using the Tempranillo, Viura and other red and white varieties.

Behind the Torremilanos brand there is a long family winemaking history that dates back to 1903. However, it was in 1974 when the Peñalba López family acquired a 200-hectare estate to produce their own wines. These vineyards surround the winery and are cultivated according to environmentally friendly principles, resulting in unique wines with optimal aging.

Torremilanos Ojo Gallo Rosado comes from their own vines aged between 80 and 180 years old, lying at 600 metres above sea level. These are old strains of native white and red varieties that are grown under Demeter certified biodynamic principles. Once the grapes reach optimal ripeness, they are harvested manually.

In the winery, Torremilanos Ojo Gallo Rosado is destemmed and gently pressed to macerate for 5-8 days in concrete tanks. There, alcoholic fermentation begins spontaneously with native yeasts. Finally, the wine is devatted and aged in old 225 litre barrels on its lees for 9 months. Once the wine is ready, it is bottled without clarifying, filtering or adding sulphites.

Torremilanos Ojo Gallo Rosado is a typical claret made under biodynamic principles and with respect for the environment throughout the process. An unctuous and mineral wine with a pure cherry flavour.
2018 Torremilanos Ojo Gallo Rosado 2018 is a fruity rosé wine with intense aromas of red fruits, herbaceous notes and mineral touches. On the palate it is fruity, unctuous and very mineral. With a long red cherry finish.
