About Tumba del Rey Moro

Tumba del Rey Moro is a red wine crafted by Comando G in the Sierra de Gredos. Comando G, -with G for Garnacha-, is a venture initiated with the aim of reviving old vineyards of the Garnacha variety in the Sierra de Gredos to produce wines that fully showcase the vineyard's expression.

Tumba del Rey Moro is a single-variety wine made from Garnacha. The grapes originate from ancient vines growing on slopes with a 50% gradient, almost vertical, with soils composed of large granite stones. The vineyard is managed in accordance with biodynamic agriculture principles.

The grapes are destemmed and cold macerated before fermenting in open barrels. Tumba del Rey Moro undergoes ageing for 12 months in a 700-litre foudre and a 500-litre French oak barrel. Tumba del Rey Moro is a rustic and profound red wine. Highly expressive.

2023 Tumba del Rey Moro 2023 unfurls an opulent aromatic profile on the nose, captivating with scents of violets and red fruits such as raspberries and ripe cherries. On the palate, it reveals a vibrant character and a natural elegance that astonishes. The tannins are remarkably fine and satiny, providing a silky texture to the taste. Each sip feels prolonged and delightful, fuelling that tension and vibrancy which elevates the experience. The 2023 harvest proved to be outstanding, owing to grapes of exceptional quality, allowing this wine to achieve a precise and balanced expression. Perfect for those seeking a red with unparalleled personality and refinement. A total of 1621 bottles were produced.
2022

Tumba del Rey Moro 2022 unveils a universe of spiced aromas with a hint of ras el hanout that invites exploration with every glass. On the nose, notes of forest fruits and ripe plums stand out, offering a complexity that delights. The wine is fluid on the palate, with a pronounced Mediterranean character, although the 2022 vintage is distinguished by being slightly more balanced due to the excellent harvest of that year. The tannins, somewhat more robust than usual in Villanueva, provide structure and depth. Its careful ageing, combined with an extra winter in concrete, has perfected its precision and subtlety. Ideal for those seeking a well-balanced wine with Mediterranean roots and a special touch of complexity.
2017 Tumba del Rey Moro 2017 is a smooth red wine with hints of fresh red fruit that lingers on the palate. A complex, deep and meaty but light wine that is broad and very juicy. The finish is pleasant with earthy notes.
2016 We climb to an altitude of 1,100 metres for this wine.  Granite, altitude and an Atlantic climate make this wine as special as it is.   Sparing in aroma but sharp and mineral on the palate. According to Dani, it is the Chablis of Gredos.
