José Antonio García Viticultor Valtuille de Abajo Godello - Doña Blanca (formerly known as Unculín Blanco) is a white wine crafted under the D.O. Bierzo.
José Antonio García embarked on this venture in 2010, after gaining experience and working in the restaurant industry in Barcelona. He decided to restore the old family vineyards and begin producing wines that are true to the terroir and the varieties he cultivates.
The family of José Antonio García owns 22 hectares of ancient vineyards, aged between 80 and 100 years, divided into 75 plots. Additionally, José Antonio also manages 4 more hectares from small local winegrowers. All these vineyards are situated at altitudes between 500 and 600 metres, influenced by a partially continental Atlantic climate, mild and temperate.
José Antonio García works in a respectful manner, practising organic viticulture, aiming to produce wines that are representative of the region with indigenous varieties and always true to the terroir from which they originate.
José Antonio García Viticultor Valtuille de Abajo Godello - Doña Blanca is a white wine crafted from the godello and doña blanca varieties, from vineyards approximately 80 years old, with predominantly clay soils.
The harvest is conducted manually with grape selection in the vineyard. Once at the winery, the grapes are destemmed and crushed. They ferment in stainless steel tanks with wild yeasts, and once fermentation is complete, the wine rests in the same tanks for several months on its fine lees.
José Antonio García Viticultor Valtuille de Abajo Godello - Doña Blanca is a fresh, pleasant, and light wine. An expressive white, very easy to drink.
