About Val de Paxariñas Capricho

Capricho de Val Paxariñas is a white wine from Bierzo produced by Bodegas Gancedo. This wine is a blend of Godello (85%) and Doña Blanca (15%).

The grapes come from strains of about 20 years old in the case of Godello and 60 in the Doña Blanca. The first variety grows in glass, while the second in trellises.

The soils are sandy and the vineyards which give rise to Capricho de Val Paxariñas are low-density, about 3000 vines per hectare. Production is therefore limited, one or two kilos per strain. Viticulture and winemaking are made using traditional methods.

Processing and finishing Capricho de Val Paxariñas takes place in stainless steel tanks.

Juani y Ginés are a pair of winemakers who are responsible for the cellar. The passion and pride with which they work allow them to achieve, year after year, some worthy wines are born.

2014 Good and voluminous entry. It is tasty and very fresh. Fruity and with marked acidity. Long and persistent finish.

Neat and very bright yellow. Unctuous tear.

High aromatic intensity. Very varietal, with a presence of lots of fresh fruit and floral aromas. Spicy herbal notes on mineral background.
2013 This white wine has good, bulky attack and is tasty, rich, creamy and very fresh. Ripe fruit increases in intensity in the glass. Very well-integrated but defined and refreshing citrus acidity. Long and very persistent finish.

Pale yellow colour with sharp edges. Very clean and very briight. Fat tears show on the glass.

This new vintage is intensely aromatic. It is clean, honest, fragrant and very varietal. Lots of fresh fruit (white stone, tropical and citrus fruit) it perfectly matched with floral aromas. Light herbal notes and subtle spices. Elegant mineral background. Very Atlantic.

2010 Good and intense attack with a tasty, smooth and very fresh mid palate. Its notes of fruit and herbs gain in intensity, although they stay very balanced. Marked but pleasant acidity and a very nice good finish. A different, very suggestive and rich wine.

Pale yellow with waxen edges. Clean and bright wine with unctuous tears.

Intensely aromatic wine with lots of notes of fresh fruit (white fruits, stone fruits, tropical fruit and citrus). When it opens up, herbal notes are displayed with strength providing the wine with a good freshness. Milky and delicate spicy hints are also noticed on its elegant mineral background.
2009 Powerful and tasty palate, fresh and with a creamy mid palate. Balanced. Elegant and pleasant finish, with a hint of bitterness and a herbal aftertaste. Bierzo white wine with character.

Straw yellow colour. Clean and bright. Thin tears.

Intense and elegant aromas. Wide range of fruit notes (apple, pear, apricot and some tropical fruits) on a powerful, herbal and creamy background. Subtle mineral touch.
2008 In the mouth, collecting first the residual carbon from the fermentation, then a very balanced acidity, alcohol, fatty, tasty, persistent ... something different.
