About Viña Sastre Crianza

Viña Sastre Crianza is a red wine from the Ribera del Duero. It is produced by Bodegas Hermanos Sastre, a chateau style winery in La Horra, Burgos.

Viña Sastre Crianza is a varietal Tinta del País. The grapes are grown in vineyards of 20-60 years of age at an altitude of 800m, on the slopes of the Douro River in the town of Roa in Ribera del Duero.

Viña Sastre Crianza is made the traditional way, without mineral fertilizers, herbicides or insecticides.

After appropriate maceration and fermentation Viña Sastre Crianza is aged for 14 months in barrels of French and American oak with four rackings.

Viña Sastre Crianza 2021 unfolds with a profound and opulent bouquet, where the essence of blackberries and sun-ripened plums is prominent, interwoven with hints of chocolate and delicate nuances of charred oak. There are also layers of cinnamon, nutmeg, black pepper, and a whisper of vanilla discernible. On the palate, it presents a smooth and velvety texture, with a palate reminiscent of luscious dark fruit. The well-incorporated oak nuances and the lengthy, intricate finish complete its full-bodied and nuanced profile.

2009 In the palate, this wine is equally elegant and complex. Its abundant notes of fruit make it tasty and fleshy. Its mid palate is marked by a good acidity and a moderate contribution of some scents of fine wood. Well structured. Long, persistent and very pleasant finish.

Intense dark cherry red colour with violet reflections. Clean and bright wine with a medium-high robe.

Intense, crisp and elegant nasal aromas. Its soft toasted notes give way to aromas of red and black ripe fruit and cocoa and to some smoked hints and outstanding spicy nuances reminiscent of black pepper. Background full of subtle vegetal touches, balsamic and mineral notes and some hints of liquorice.
2008 Good and embracing attack. A well-bodied red wine with a long, tasty, intense and fresh mid palate and a silky texture. Its notes of fruit are well integrated with the creamy oak aromas. It has some mellow nuances and a good acidity. A balanced wine with ripe, sweet tannins and a good finish with toasted sensations and a fruity aftertaste. A round and sober wine.
