Xitxarel·lo 2024 is an exceptionally fresh and aromatic white wine. Visually, it exhibits a pale yellow hue with greenish highlights, notable for its clarity and brilliance. On the nose, it unfolds a spectrum of aromas where fruits such as apple and pear predominate, complemented by subtle citrus hints, fennel, and a delicate jasmine fragrance. Upon tasting, it astonishes with its freshness and minerality, offering a silky mouthfeel and a prolonged finish, where acidity and fruity, creamy notes meld harmoniously.

About Xitxarel·lo

Xitxarel·lo is a white wine produced by Caves Martí Serdà in Sant Miquel d'Olèrdola, D.O. Penedés.

 

Caves Martí Serdà is a family-run winery founded in 1986. With a long winemaking tradition, it has made traditional wines and cavas up until today. The addition of new generations to the family business has been a breath of fresh air, creating the new line of wines, Casa Berger (first name of the winery, specialised in bulk wines, back in 1878).

Casa Berger comprises a series of wines with a more modern and ground-breaking image. However, they do choose to make top-quality wines that combine tradition and modernity, with the aim of being attractive for younger wine lovers.

 

Xitxarel·lo is a wine made from Xarello from a single farm, Mas Cortei, located at 340 metres of altitude in the municipality of Granada del Penedés. The vines were planted in the 50s on clay-sandy soils.

The harvest is performed by hand. Once the grapes arrive at the winery, they go through cold maceration for 8 hours to preserve all their aromas. After a gentle pressing, the must is settled, and then transferred to stainless steel deposits, where it will ferment at a controlled temperature (16ºC) for 20 days. After the fermentation, it is left to rest for 5 weeks on its fine lees with periodic batonnages. The wine is filtered and clarified before it is poured into bottles screen printed with more than 50 funny swear words.

2022

Xitxarel·lo 2022 is a pale yellow white wine with greenish reflections, clean and bright. On the nose, it exhibits aromas of ripe apple and pear, with a hint of citrus and floral notes, in addition to fennel and jasmine. On the palate, it is fresh, slightly fruity, and silky, with good acidity and creamy touches. The characteristic density of Xarel·lo gives it a well-defined and balanced profile.

Xitxarel·lo 2020 is a creamy, pleasant and fresh wine. On the nose, it stands out for its varietal aromas, ripe white fruit, and citric notes with floral hints. An easy to drink wine with slight volume.
