About Yoyo Vent Debout

Yoyo Vent Debout is a natural wine made with the Cariñena variety in Languedoc-Roussillon (France). A delicious wood-aged rosé made byLaurence Manya-Krief at her Yoyo winery.

Known as “the Queen of the South”, 35-year-old Laurence Manya-Krief escaped the stressful world of fashion in Paris and settled in the village of Montesquieu des Albères to use her winemaking talents on 4 hectares of vineyards that captivated her. Also known as Yoyo, she is a humble woman who produces exquisite small productions in one of the most difficult wine-growing areas in France.

Yoyo Vent Debout comes from plots located on steep terraces facing the Mediterranean Sea. These are 80 year old vines planted on granite soils. They are cultivated using organic agriculture, with no chemical products, and always following farmer’s common sense.

In the winery, the Yoyo Vent Debout grapes are crushed without destemming. Spontaneous fermentation then begins with native yeasts and finally the wine ages in 400-litre French oak barrels for 4 months.

With talent and lots of humility, Yoyo makes this Yoyo Vent Debout, a rosé from Roussillon that stands out for its purity and intensity. A deep but easy to drink wine that is hard to find because of its low production.

 

2020

Yoyo Vent Debout 2020 is a fresh rosé wine with a nose of fresh red fruit over a background of herbal notes. On the palate it is pure, dense and vinous. A deep wine with wonderful acidity, a light mid-palate and a flavoursome, captivating finish.
