About Zárate Caiño Tinto

Zárate Caiño Tinto is a red wine produced by the Zárate winery in the Salnés Valley, in Rías Baixas.

The Zárate winery is a historic winery that has been producing wine since the eighteenth century in the Rías Baixas. Zárate Caiño Tinto is a single-variety Caiño, a native variety of the Salnes Valley, a late-ripening variety that produces very fruity wines with high acidity. The grapes come from an old vineyard over 60 years old with granitic soil.
Harvesting is done manually and grape selection takes place in the plot itself. Once in the winery, the grapes are trodden without being destemmed in an open destination where fermentation takes place.
The grapes are trodden daily for four weeks. After this long maceration good extraction, both the colour and the aroma are achieved. Zárate Caiño Tinto is aged for 12 months in French oak barrels, which are 3 year old. Once matured, the wine is bottled without filtering or clarification.
If you want to try this wine- hurry! Only 1,250 bottles were produced.

2016 Zárate Caiño Tinto 2016 is a fresh and fluid red wine with character. This vintage displays all the character of the variety. Frank on the nose, it reveals red fruit with floral notes of roses and jasmine, and elegant notes of black pepper. On the palate it is vibrant, lively and very lingering.

Soft on the palate dominated by fruit species, toasted notes and some vegetation. Good acidity.



Cherry red with a garnet rim.



A prominent role of ripe black fruits with memories of dried and smoked leaves.
