About Abel Mendoza Jarrarte Joven Maceración Carbónica

In 1987, it embarked on its journey as one of the youngest and most promising wineries in the D.O.Ca. Rioja. Abel Mendoza swiftly showcased his potential with his aged creations, which amazed many critics. However, despite the passing years, it is worth looking back and paying some attention to the young wines with which he debuted, such as Abel Mendoza Jarrarte Maceración Carbónica.
 
Abel Mendoza Jarrarte Maceración Carbónica marked the beginning of it all. With this single-varietal tempranillo, the story of this winery commenced, which now enjoys great recognition among connoisseurs of this denomination. Situated in San Vicente de la Sonsierra, in La Rioja Alta, Abel cultivates his vineyards. In total, they encompass around 16 hectares of old vines, over 30 years old, organically farmed, located on the banks of the River Ebro, on rugged terrain where a blend of clayey soils, marls, and fine sandstones is abundant. 
 
Nonetheless, what truly makes Abel Mendoza Jarrarte Maceración Carbónica an unparalleled red wine is its production through the process of carbonic maceration, so common in this region, which involves initiating fermentation within the grape berry itself. This technique, where the whole cluster is fermented, is also common in France and results in juicy and fruity wines that, despite their youth, offer great intensity of flavour and aromas. 
 
The facilities where Abel Mendoza operates are not very large, as it is an artisanal winery with very limited production. Each vintage is unique and unrepeatable, making it impossible to replicate the same taste and nuances. And when the bottles run out... Abel Mendoza Jarrarte Maceración Carbónica is gone, and that's all there is!
