About Andreas Bender Graacher Himmelreich Kabinett

Variety is the spice of life... and Andreas Bender knows this well, yet he never loses an ounce of his distinctive style. This unconventional and resolute German winemaker has crafted a range of wines that reflect both the diversity of their origins and his restless personality. From the slate soils of the Mosel to the sun-drenched slopes of the Palatinate, Andreas offers wines to suit all palates, but with a common signature: authenticity, precision, and freshness.

His collection is divided into three well-defined styles. The first, Paulessen, are dry, refined, and understated wines with an elegant and minimalist approach. The second, Dajoar (which in the local dialect means "as before"), are wines with more body, a touch of residual sugar, and a production method that honours the classic traditions of the Mosel. And finally, for those seeking something more unique, he also crafts single-vineyard wines, where each plot speaks for itself.

Speaking of single vineyards... One of his greatest prides is Graacher Himmelreich, one of the most renowned estates in the Mosel. Situated on a steep slope with blue slate soils and perfect sun exposure, it produces Rieslings that combine minerality, lightness, and an almost celestial elegance (its name is no coincidence: "Kingdom of Heaven").

From this estate comes Andreas Bender Graacher Himmelreich Kabinet, a wine that exemplifies his philosophy: minimal intervention, maximum respect for the vineyard. After a manual harvest and careful selection of bunches, the Riesling grapes undergo spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts in stainless steel tanks. The fermentation naturally halts (thanks to temperature control and the must's own dynamics), retaining some of the residual sugar that imparts its characteristic subtle sweetness. Afterwards, the wine rests on its lees for several months to gain complexity and texture without losing freshness.

As a result, Andreas Bender Graacher Himmelreich Kabinet is a vibrant, juicy Riesling with a minerality that sustains it from start to finish. A Kabinett with a classic soul... yet with its own personality.
